Adrift after the death of her husband in the war, Helene 'Breakaway' Sorenson spends her days collecting and delivering donations for refugees in Idaho. One day she meets Duke, an Iraqi teen, who dreams of becoming a cowboy. The two strike up a tenuous and fragile friendship that forces them to confront their haunted pasts.
